Eisenberg

Sharon Eisenberg is running for the position of Vice-Chair to concentrate on managing a strong slate of chapter programming. She is currently Acting Chair of the Los Angeles Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH and was previously chapter Chair in 2005, Vice-Chair in 2004, and Secretary in 2003.

Sharon has been involved with event production since the early 90s, when as a student at California State University, Northridge she served on the Board of Directors of the Union Program Council as Director of Coffeehouse Showcases and two years as Director of Entertainment Programming for the CSUN SUNFEST (annual campus fair). While she was Director of Coffeehouse Showcases, she renamed the events “Acousticafe” – drawing campus-wide recognition for transforming locations into coffeehouse settings, complete with an open-mic format for acoustic musicians, poets, and storytellers. As Director of Entertainment Programming, she was in charge of publicity, department coordination, booking talent, and procuring venues.

During her tenure on the San Francisco and Los Angeles Chapters of ACM SIGGRAPH, she produced and co-produced numerous events encompassing the diversity of computer graphics disciplines, ranging from automotive visualization to animation pipelines. Notable events include screenings and panels on Sin City, 300, Over The Hedge, and the first-ever San Francisco ACM SIGGRAPH Chapter Screening featuring student and professional work from artists in the Bay Area and around the country. An excerpt of this screening was also shown at the 2003 Game Developer’s Conference.

In addition, Sharon Eisenberg is a member of ACM, ACM SIGGRAPH, ASIFA, and non-industry organizations including Long Beach Roller Derby and USARS (United States Association of Rollersports). She has a BA in Communications from California State University, Northridge and a BFA from the Academy of Art in San Francisco in Animation/Visual Effects. She was a freelance rotoscoping artist at Hornet Animation and Look FX, and contracted in both administrative and creative capacities at Disney, ESPN, and Mattel. She draws inspiration from all of her diverse interests, and looks forward to supporting the Executive Council as Vice-Chair.
