3D Projection mapping is the merging of real and virtual worlds, by projecting 3D models onto their real-life counterparts. It is a profound paradigm shift in entertainment, advertising, and lighting. PaintScaping.com, one of the leaders in this emerging field, will present case studies, and discuss the creative process, behind-the-scenes technical challenges, and job opportunities.
3D projection mapping is the merging of real and virtual worlds, by projecting 3D models onto their real-life counterparts. Also called spatial augmented reality, it was invented by Ramesh Raskar, from MIT, and Oliver Bimber, from Johannes Kepler University Linz, who literally wrote the book. 3D projection mapping is a profound paradigm shift in entertainment, advertising, and lighting.
PaintScaping.com, one of the leaders in this emerging field, was founded in 2009 by CG pioneer Philippe Bergeron. Based in Los Angeles, PaintScaping has produced large-scale mappings in Hawaii, Cancun, Las Vegas, Chicago, Québec City, Scottsdale, Orlando, and Los Angeles, among others.
Philippe, along with other "PaintScapers," will discuss the creative process, behind-the-scenes technical challenges, as well as present case studies for Sony Pictures, Blue Man Group, MGM Resorts International, and Cirque du Soleil.
We will also discuss job opportunities for artists & TD's familiar with Maya, Cinema 4D, 3Ds Max, Nuke, Realflow, AfterEffects, Z-Brush, Endorphin, and MotionBuilder.
