"Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian", VFX and Screening

An overview of the visual effects techniques employed across the production pipeline integrating both propriety tools and Houdini will be discussed with a special emphasis on selected effects. A screening of the film will immediately follow the presentation.

PROGRAM:
Francisco Rodriguez, FX Supervisor at Rhythm & Hues will provide an overview of the visual effects techniques employed across the production pipeline integrating both propriety tools and Houdini. There will be a special emphasis showcasing the creation of the climatic “Netherworld Sequence”. A screening of the film will immediately follow the presentation.

SOCIAL HOUR WITH ****NO HOST BAR****
IMPORTANT: Bring your photo I.D. to the Social Hour at Karl Strauss. All will be admitted but I.D.'s will be checked. ALL attendees will be wristbanded.
Water will be provided for FREE - all other beverages must be purchased from Karl Strauss - NO outside beverages will be allowed.

BONUS:
The first 200 attendees admitted will receive a FREE mousepad from Side Effects.

****IMPORTANT****
DO NOT remove your wristband after the Social Hour - this will serve as your admittance ticket into the Theater, for the screening.

ELECTION RESULTS:
We will be introduced to our newly elected officers during the opening announcements in the theater. They will serve for the September 2009 - June 2010 season.

DRAWING:
Side Effects will hold a drawing for 3 licenses of "Houdini Master Apprentice HD". This is a noncommercial license of Houdini Apprentice which renders watermark-free to an HD resolution. Valued at $ 99 USD each.

All LA ACM SIGGRAPH will be admitted free of charge. Non-members of LA ACM SIGGRAPH are admitted for $20.00. New LA ACM SIGGRAPH members who sign up on-site, and pay the $40 annual membership fee (checks or cash only), do not have to pay the $20 admission fee.
