Leonard Daly and Craig "Xray" Halperin are jointly running for the office of Co-Chair of LA ACM SIGGRAPH. We believe that the chapter will be better served by the two us being equal co-chairs.
We will divide the duties of the Chair along the line of public-facing and internal-facing. Xray will be the represent the chapter to the public and industry. Leonard will handle the internal workings of the chapter and our relationship with ACM SIGGRAPH.
Even though we are dividing the duties of the office, we both agree that the chapter needs to grow and represent more people involved with Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques in the Los Angeles area. Starting with the June Planning meeting, Leonard and Xray expect to solicit input from all interested parties in order to bring high quality and compelling events to fruition for next season. Leonard and Xray plan to continue the ideals service and outreach to the computer graphics community and increase opportunities for membership participation with policies aimed at transparency, inclusiveness and communication.
The chapter also needs some internal realignment with current practices to increase membership, volunteerism, and our relationship with ACM SIGGRAPH. To that end, we will institute a more transparent Executive Council and undertake an update of the Chapter's By-Laws.
Leonard Daly has been Electronic Services Chair and responsible for all electronic services the chapter uses, including email and web site. He also oversaw the redoing of the website in 2008 and its continued operation. Leonard has worked in various aspects of scientific visualization and computer graphics for over 30 years. He is currently an independent consultant specializing in web applications and presentation of information using web technologies.
Agent Xray was Chapter Chair in 2007-2008 until he moved to the bay area on for a new job.
